Georgia has very standard gross weights available for semi-trucks, but axle weights that are permitted give flexibility for operators. Vehicles with a gross under 73,280 lbs are permitted to have increased axle weights, with tandem axles being permitted up to 40,680 lbs on state roads. These higher weights are reflected in combinations governed under state law on the interstates as well, with straight trucks having slightly higher allowable gross weights than under federal regulations.
