Hawaii has some very unique laws, and because it is isolated from the mainland, can operate differently. Unlike the rest of the US and Canada, Hawaii has a maximum width of 108” for all vehicles. Also, Hawaii allows longer double trailers, with cargo-carrying lengths of up to 65’, or about 31’ per trailer, to operate on its national network. However, these double combinations are limited to the standard weight of 80,000 lbs. Single axle, tandem, and tridem weights are all also higher than for regular US bridge – compliant regulations, and these higher weights affect the allowable gross for straight trucks and three axle semi-trucks.
