This is a common LCV combination that is operated in many regions across the US and Canada. It is commonly known as a ‘turnpike double’. The length other the trailers varies, and usually 45’ – 48’ trailers are operated in the US, and 53’ double trailers are operated in Canada. In all jurisdictions, these combinations are restricted to major highways, or a portion of highways. Permits are required, and require additional driver training for operation of these combinations.
