There are several restrictions on operations within Maine that can be beneficial for shippers. Maine allows 6 axle truck combinations with weights up to 100,000 lbs. There are higher weight allowances for some smaller trucks as well, and significant differences between State Roads and Interstates, especially in axle weights. Additionally in Maine, 48’-53’ trailers have a specified network that they are allowed to travel on, as well as additional restrictions such as a specification on kingpin setback distances and effective rear overhang.
