Updated Ohio Tandem Axles for non-interstate use. These specifications are found in the Ohio code, sections D-2, a and b:
(a) Spaced four feet or less apart, and weighed simultaneously, twenty-four thousand pounds;
(b) Spaced more than four feet apart, and weighed simultaneously, thirty-four thousand pounds, plus one thousand pounds per foot or fraction thereof, over four feet, not to exceed forty thousand pounds.
- Less than or equal to 4′: 24,000 lbs
- 4’1 through 5′: 35,000 lbs
- 5’1″ through 6′: 36,000 lbs
- 6’1″ through 7′: 37,000 lbs
- 8’1″ through 9′: 38,000 lbs
- 9’1″ through 10′: 39,000 lbs
- 10’1″ through 11′: 40,000 lbs
On the Ohio Turnpike, at 4′ or less, the limit is the same, but over 4′ to 8′ the limit is 34,000 lbs.
